Recently (March 22-25), the 2024 China Energy Research Association Fuel Cell Special Committee Annual Meeting and National Fuel Cell Academic Seminar were successfully held in Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. This conference is jointly hosted by the Fuel Cell Committee of the China Energy Research Association and the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tsinghua University, and has received strong support from the Guangzhou Development Zone Management Committee, Huangpu District People's Government, and Guangdong Guangsheng Holding Group Co., Ltd. The theme of this conference is to build a top academic exchange platform for fuel cells in China, with the aim of promoting energy technology progress, spreading the concept of green development, and promoting the implementation of scientific research achievements. Experts, scholars, business representatives, and government leaders from all over the country gathered together to provide valuable suggestions and strategies for the sustainable development of the hydrogen energy industry.


The meeting attracted the attention of many important people, including Peng Suping, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of the China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing); Xie Heping, academician of the CAE Member and distinguished professor of Shenzhen University; Sun Shigang, academician of the CAS Member and professor of Xiamen University; Huang Zhen, academician of the CAE Member and chair professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University; Zhang Jiujun, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a Canadian academician, and a professor at Fuzhou University; Shi Yubo, Chairman of the China Energy Research Association; Vice Chairman and Secretary General Sun Zhengyun; Han Minfang, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Special Committee and Professor at Tsinghua University; Xian Yinsong, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Huangpu District Committee of Guangzhou City, and Executive Deputy Director of Guangzhou Development Zone Management Committee. In addition, representatives from the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province, various committees and bureaus of Huangpu District, as well as scientific research units, industry associations, and enterprises and institutions, also attended the meeting.
The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Han Minfang from Tsinghua University, and Chairman Shi Yubo delivered the opening speech. Subsequently, Academician Peng Suping, Chairman Lv Yongzhong, and District Mayor Xian Yinsong delivered speeches.

Huang Zhen, academician of the CAE Member, Zhang Jiujun, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering/academician of the Third Canadian Academy of Engineering, Luo Jingli, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Chen Zhongwei, academician of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences/Canadian Academy of Engineering, Ye Siyu, academician of the Canadian National Academy of Engineering, professor of Guangzhou University, and others made invited reports. Academicians have shared research progress and innovation achievements in their respective fields.
At the special seminar on "Hydrogen Energy and Dual Carbon Related Technologies" held on March 23, Mr. Yang Dawei, founder and chairman of Kerun Group, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech on "Development Progress of New Generation Proton Exchange Membrane Full Industry Chain Technology in the Hydrogen Energy Industry". In his speech, Chairman Yang elaborated on the importance of proton exchange membranes in the field of hydrogen energy, emphasizing their decisive role as the core component of fuel cells in improving their efficiency and extending their service life. At the same time, he also presented in detail the breakthroughs and achievements made by Kerun Group in the research and development of proton exchange membrane technology, and shared the strategic planning and implementation details of the group's overall industrial chain layout.
Chairman Yang further pointed out that the correlation and promotion between the hydrogen energy industry and fuel cell technology are becoming increasingly significant. With the rapid development of the hydrogen energy industry, fuel cell technology is also constantly advancing, and the improvement of proton exchange membrane research and production technology will directly promote the improvement of fuel cell performance and cost reduction. Therefore, Kerun Group will continue to increase investment in the research and industrialization of proton exchange membrane technology, providing solid support for the stable development of the hydrogen energy industry.
